AUGUST ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome back to School, scouts!

The PLC has planned a couple of great Monday meetings to welcome everybody back to school. Anything with the words ice cream, pool party, and zip line is okay in my book.

For the next three weeks, the patrols will be in competition to earn the honor of the Top Patrol. The patrol with the most points after the next three weeks, will win a zip line adventure this fall.
• Knot tying relay race (August 16)
• Dinner cook off (at the pool party August 23)
• Freeze off, ice cream making contest (August 30)
• Attendance and dressed in a Scout T-shirt or class B (contest every week)
First place on each of the contest will receive 3 points, 2 for second place and 1 for third place.

The Zip Line outing will be at the Adventure Works at a date of the winning patrol's choosing.

We need the patrol leaders and ASM for each patrol to attend every week for the next 3 weeks. If you can’t attend, please make sure there is some to fill in for your position. Strong patrol leadership is key to make these events work.

Monday August 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 including dinner – bring $5 per person
The patrols will break into groups of 4 and offer four different sampling stations. The troop will provide the drinks. Voting by a secret panel of judges will determine the top 3 meals based upon taste. This will be a pool party at the home of Harry and Truman Zumwalt at 9474 Crockett Rd. From the church, go down Crockett Rd past the 4 way stop at the Rain Tree subdivision and you will see their mailbox on your left. Parents, if you need to drop them off to attend the Woodland Open House, that's ok.

Monday August 30
The ice cream must be made that night at scouts or just before scouts in a home made ice cream maker with ice and rock salt. One patrol can make its own ice cream, or two patrols can combine to make one, or one patrol can enter two kinds. It is up to you. You must list your ice cream’s name and provide the list of ingredients.

Message from Mr. Mott:
Michael, ASPL and instructors will be meeting me 20 minutes early to run through the Troop meeting each week (except the pool party). We will be working on making our patrols stronger and including every Scout in patrol activities. Michael, when we start all of our Troop meetings, please make the patrols stand/sit together and ensure that there is a patrol leader and ASM with each group If there is not one, assign one for the evening or combine patrols

Please let me know if you have any questions,
Darryl Mott
